Biography

Mr. Christopher Brown serves as the Chief of Staff for the NCDMPH and oversees the daily operations of the Center and its staff, while strategically expanding the Center’s research, educational and technical advisory support to Federal partners. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Brown was the Director of Emergency Preparedness at the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), where he served as the program manager for Navy Medicine’s Emergency Management program and other enterprise-wide preparedness and response programs. While at BUMED, he oversaw the Navy Medicine Crisis Action Team’s response to the 2014 Ebola and the 2016 Zika outbreaks, and during the COVID-19 response, he managed the Navy’s pandemic response stockpile, orchestrating the distribution of over 20 million pieces of personal protective equipment. Additionally, he has served as an adjunct faculty member at the Defense Medical Readiness and Training Institute since 2015, where he helps facilitate the joint Service Public Health Emergency Management courses. Mr. Brown is a retired U.S. Navy Captain; his 28 years of service included two command tours, multiple deployments to the Mediterranean and Pacific theaters, and contingency operations in the Middle East and Africa.
