Biography

Dr. Emily Post's research interests lie at the intersection of Cultural Anthropology (studying the diversity of human cultures) and Human Behavioral Ecology (studying human behavior generally from the lens of evolutionary theory). Specifically, she focuses on how humans adapt their social structures and cultural understandings in response to large-scale disasters. As a Graduate Research Fellow supported by the National Science Foundation, she has conducted ethnographic fieldwork studying how rural, smallholder populations adapted their social support networks to Hurricane Maria in the Caribbean island of Dominica. She currently holds the position of Research Associate III at the National Center of Disaster Medicine & Public Health.
