Biography

CDR Klemann is the Principle Deputy Director for the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) Pilot Program. This congressionally directed, interagency Pilot will increase our Nation’s capability to care for combat casualties and respond to other medical surge events through an interoperable network of federal and civilian partners.

Previously CDR Klemann was assigned to the Office of the Command Surgeon at the United States Transportation Command, Scott AFB, IL where he led the Global Patient Movement Integration Cell. The cell serves as the focal point for the Global Patient Movement System, coordinating aeromedical evacuation capabilities amongst three geographically dispersed Patient Movement Requirements Centers in Illinois, Hawaii and Germany, all to ensure the safe movement of our wounded, ill and injured to definitive levels of care. He also led the Force Health Protection Operational Planning Team during the pandemic, developing and providing guidance and support to US Transportation Command’s 55,000 plus geographically dispersed staff. Prior tours include Director for Administration and Healthcare Business at the United States Naval Academy, Executive Assistant to M3, Medical Operations at Navy Medicine Headquarters, Falls Church, VA, Twentynine-Palms and San Diego, CA. He completed a most rewarding deployment to Afghanistan for one year, serving on an Embedded Training Team providing guidance and support to the Afghan National Police’s Surgeon General.
