This tool is designed for healthcare workers to quickly navigate to evidence-based information from the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress, the Center for Deployment Psychology, and the Consortium for Health and Military Performance. NCDMPH proposes a webinar to launch the product, inviting representatives from each collaborating USU Center to speak about their contribution.

VISION
The National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health will be the Nation’s academic center of excellence leading domestic and international disaster health education and research efforts. In collaboration with partners, we create and translate science and education to improve readiness.
Mission
The Mission of the National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health is to improve our Nation’s disaster health readiness through education and science.
The National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health (NCDMPH or “National Center”) was established under the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 21 (HSPD 21) to be “…an academic center of excellence in disaster medicine and public health….” The National Center is a unique organization in two important ways- It was founded as a collaboration by five Federal agencies: Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). It is also a unique entity that is both a Federal organization and an academic center, located within the Uniformed Services University (USU). This positions the National Center to act as a bridge between agencies and the academic and government spheres. The unique structure and position makes NCDMPH especially suited to meet our Nation’s critical disaster preparedness mission.
In keeping with NCDMPH’s stated mission in HSPD 21, the 2017-18 strategic plan focuses on four key strategic themes:
- Readiness,
- Education,
- Research,
- Collaboration and Leadership.
The overarching strategic theme of NCDMPH is medical and public health READINESS—preparing the Nation from disasters and catastrophic events. Leveraging scholarship to advance the education and research agenda for disaster readiness in the United States are the missions; collaboration and leadership are the tools to achieve the preparedness mission.
