Capturing the Range of Learning: Implications for Disaster Health in a Resource Constrained Future

This white paper addresses the challenge of building and maintaining disaster related learning by health professionals in a resource-constrained environment. There is value in considering multiple paths to disaster health learning, in what Philip H. Coombs and Manzoor Ahmed called formal, non-formal, and informal modes. Such an approach has implications for how we foster and evaluate learning. Focusing on what learning is necessary to achieve performance, and then facilitating multiple paths to that learning, including outside of classes and training sessions, can increase resilience amidst limited resources.
